Creating a Gala Day
In Dash, the gala day functionality is useful for organising pool rounds and allocating each match to a dedicated fields/location and timeslot.
A gala day needs to be linked to an event. If you have not yet created an event, you can learn how to do so here.
To create a gala day, click "Gala Days" below "Competitions" in the left hand menu.
From the gala days page you will see a list of already created gala days and an "Add Gala Day" button to the top left of the screen, click this.
There are five key components of a gala day:
Event
This is the event that the gala day is linked to. Simply select the event from the dropdown list, or if you have not yet created your event, click the "Add Event" button and follow the prompts.
Title
This is the name of your gala day and is auto generated to be - "Event Name Gala Day". You can change this to whatever you prefer.
Timeslots
These are the designated match times for the gala day. Add as many as required and customize however you like.
Please Note: If your gala day spans across multiple days you will need to name the timeslot accordingly to show this eg. - “17/10 – 11am”, “17/10 – 1pm”, “18/10 – 11am”.
Playing Fields
These are the names of the fields that the matches are to be played on.
Applicable Intakes
These intakes are pre-populated depending on the attributes of the event that the gala day is linked to. As some events may have multiple intakes (eg for different genders/age groups) you have the option to select which intakes are relevant to your gala day.
Assigning Matches
Before you can assign each match to a field or timeslot, you must attach a pool round to the gala day. To do this, navigate back to the relevant competition, ensuring you're in "Edit Mode", and click "Attach to Gala Day".
You can read more about pool rounds here.
After attaching your pool round, navigate back to your gala day, select your teams from the "Match Candidates" dropdown list and drag/drop them into the desired field and timeslot.
If you now navigate back to your pool round, the field and time info will be displayed next to the relevant matches.
