Matches Are Not Automatically Generated
When adding a round you have the option to "Auto generate all matches for the round". If you have checked this box upon creation but it doesn't seem to have automatically generated the matches, there are two main things to look for:
Number of Candidates
It is important that the first round knockout size is equal to, or larger than, the number of candidates for a competition. For example, if there are 39 candidates and you attempt to create a Round of 32 knockout competition, there are more candidates than available slots and the system will create an empty round. You will then have to enter the schools manually yourself, or delete the round and recreate with a larger knockout size.
Please Note: If you do create a competition with more candidates than rounds, after checking the auto generate box, you will not be able to automatically fixture the match candidates by location.
Screen Size
If you have created a round, selected the auto generate check box and have ensured that the knockout size is equal to, or larger than, the number of candidates, but can only see "BLANK" entries, you may just need to scroll further down to see the matches.
When matches are automatically generated, they are placed in the middle of the competition tree and the system fills the matches above and below the "real" matches with "BLANK" entries. If there are significantly more matches than there are candidates, you may need to scroll past a number of these "BLANK" entries before coming across your desired match.
Competition Has No Candidates
Competitions are linked to intakes, and will only show the candidates that have applied to the relevant intake. If there are no applications, there will be no candidates for your competition.
You can read more about intakes here.
Please Note: If your competition has no candidates, and you attempt to auto generate fixtures via best location, you will receive an error.
